About

Melissa Delzio was born in the sweltering Colorado river town of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, home of the London Bridge, party location for underage future porn stars, and destination for a slew of snowbirds promoting large Sunday pancake breakfasts. After 18 sunburned years of the big Arizona sky, wind swept sand dunes, and palm trees, Melissa started her journey north. She settled for 4 years at the base of the San Fransisco peaks at 7000 ft, in the quaint Route 66 hippie town of Flagstaff, Arizona. There she spent 4 years breathing in the fresh pine air, attending anthropology, sociology, geology, other “ology” courses and most importantly, design classes at Northern Arizona University. Some notable college moments include: waking up at 4am to get in line at the local watering hole for Tequila Sunrise while donning a sombrero, shoveling her car out of feet of snow that accumulated when a plower buried her car due to its illegally parked location, mastering the art of making the perfect jello shot, all the while maintaining deans list status. She also obtained her first job in design, advertising for a local entertainment company, that specialized in bringing second-rate comedians and artists to the stage in front a large student audience.

Two days after basking in the glory of her BFA diploma, Melissa continued her journey north, packing all worldly belongings in a 1995 Honda and hitting the road destined for Portland, Oregon. Upon arrival, Melissa quickly fell into a designer position at Creative Center and set about making Portland home. Over three years later, she is still enthralled by Portland in all of its rain-soaked, art-covered, beer-cheering, hybrid-loving glory. She has immersed herself in the design scene and established her place by initiating and leading the effort to bring the international digital design tournament, Cut & Paste to Portland in 2007.
